ABRAMS & COMPANY Publishers, Inc. is an innovative, quality-driven, early-childhood and elementary education publisher committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children�both in school and at home.
ABRAMS publishes reading and language arts materials under the Letter People® brand name. The Company also publishes an array of supplementary educational materials in the areas of reading and literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies under the ABRAMS imprint.
OUR HISTORY
ABRAMS & COMPANY was founded by Richard, Patricia, and Warren Abrams in 1989. Richard Abrams was formerly President and CEO of Holt, Rinehart and Winston, as well as President and Founder of the CBS International Publishing Group.
ABRAMS & COMPANY enjoys national success as the publisher of the Letter People, an early-childhood brand that has touched the lives of over thirty-five milion children, parents, teachers, and school administrators. Originally published in 1972, the rights to The Letter People were acquired in 1990. A completely new kindergarten program, Land of the Letter People®, was published in 1996, followed by a completely new pre-kindergarten program, Let’s Begin with the Letter People®, in 1999. Each program was based on the latest reading research findings, as well as on extensive prototype piloting in over 100 classrooms across the country. With these quality publications, a brand new generation of Letter People was launched for the twenty-first century.
In 2003, a new supplementary line, Abrams Educational Products, was launched to serve students in preschool through grade five in the areas of reading and literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, Abrams offers a variety of classroom libraries featuring fiction and nonfiction independent readers.
OUR PRODUCTS
Let’s Begin with the Letter People® is a core curriculum for pre-kindergarten, and Land of the Letter People® is a core curriculum for kindergarten. Each program is research-based and has been rigorously pilot-tested over several years in more than 100 classrooms across the country�a process involving several thousand students at each grade level. Introduced in 2005, the Letter People Puppets enhance the social and academic components of these and other programs.
Newly released Abrams Educational products include: Big Book Math™ and Big Book Science™, math and science programs designed for pre-K through grade 2; Look! I’m Reading!™, nonfiction rebus and decodable books; Abrams Math Readers™, 72 leveled readers to develop early math and reading skills; TEAMS™, Teacher Electronic Assessment & Management System; KIDWARE®, open-ended software for young learners; Abrams Readers Theatre™, folk and fairy tale scripts; Family Lending Libraries, supporting the development of reading, math, and science skills at home; and Letter People Puppets, encouraging child involvement while promoting oral language and social skills.

ABRAMS & COMPANY has its editorial, sales, and administrative offices in Waterbury, Connecticut.
OUR FUTURE
While strengthening its solid early literacy contribution to the preschool and school market, ABRAMS & COMPANY intends to extend the reach of its programs and services into the home where the early literacy needs of the child and the family literacy needs of the parent or other caregiver can be more fully served.
Research and assessment, as well as teacher training and staff development for administrators and parent educators, represent areas of ongoing and growing involvement for the Company.
